Because this post is going to be a rant about something I heard on the news, I've decided that Friday's shall now be called "Things That Really Irk Me Friday". I'm sure I'll have no problem finding a topic.
Since Bruce and I are at home daily, we always watch the news at noon. The "local" news here centers around Orlando, Florida which is a little over an hours drive from where we are in Daytona Beach. Every single day there is a shooting, a home break-in, or a serious, possibly fatal car crash on the interstates. It's a pretty active city and I'm so glad I don't live in it. This is also near the area where Trayvon Martin was killed by George Zimmerman.
There now seems to be a huge increase in crimes committed against children by sexual predators. Today it has really pissed me off and I am now blogging about it.
The crime reported today was committed by an older man who 1) has already served time in prison for a sexual assault against a minor, 2) has had numerous arrests for the same type of crime and 3) is a registered sex offender. This is happening time and time again down here. This particular guy, who was listed as a transient because he had no permanent address, was just arrested for peeking through the windows of a minor's home.
Isn't anyone monitoring these monsters? Shouldn't they be forced to wear some sort of monitoring device? Shouldn't they have to live in a boarding house or shelter if they have no other place? These animals need watching.
Maybe more importantly, the question is why are they able to have the opportunities to commit these horrendous crimes against children repeatedly? Or, let's ask who are the judges that are letting them out on bond or not sentencing them to harsher prison terms?
Personally, any repeat offender for sex crimes should be permanently castrated (mostly men) in my opinion. Something needs to be done in this sick world.
On another note, we begin our water restriction schedule in November because the rainy season is officially over. Anyone caught watering their lawn on a non-scheduled day will be caught and fined.
Now I know where our crime task forces are hard at work.
